Your Dog's Very Own Den

Have you ever noticed that dogs like to take naps?  In fact, if you have a dog, right now he's probably sleeping on the floor.  Sometimes people even let their dogs sleep with them on their beds!  As cozy as that may be, sometimes dogs need their own space, too.

Dogs are den animals: they like to have their own little space that they fit into nicely.  Dog beds are created with this in mind.  A dog bed is a place that is not only comfortable, but that belongs to him.  You can put it on the floor, on the couch, or even on your own bed, and your dog can be comfortable and feel secure anywhere.

There are many different styles of dog beds.  Some are up high, some are low to the ground.  Some of them have steps up to help your dog get on it rather than having to jump up on it.  There are different shapes as well.  Some are round.  Others are like big giant square pillows.  Some have walls around the edge and maybe a top over part of it to give the dog some privacy.  The material will help your dog stay warm during the winter, especially if it is a model with a "roof" over part of the bed as that will help trap the heat that rises off your dog.

Make sure you look for a bed that is easily washable.  Of course, your dog is probably housebroken, but you never know.  Or, he might eat a treat on the bed which may stain.
